Libby Kinna is a writer, explorer, ancestral researcher, educator and mentor with over 25 years experience within the holistic wellness industry; in a professional and qualified capacity as mentor, coach, trainer, facilitator and holistic counsellor.
Her life experience and professional training has seen her formulate a unique, empathic and considered manner in the way she engages with her clients, students and peers. One that is holistic and spirit-centered. Libby is drawn to the philosophies of renaissance humanism, romanticism and existentialism, humanistic psychology and neuroscience.
A keen student of history and genealogy, Libby is in her final year of Bachelor of Arts (History) at the University of Tasmania. Prior to commencing her undergraduate studies she successfully completed Diploma of Family History.
Her areas of historical interest and research are inspired by the life experiences and rich cultural heritage of her ancestors. She is drawn to the land, culture and history of Scotland, Ireland and England (circa 18th – 19th century). Following her heart lies at her approach to historical and ancestral research, yet somehow paths somehow find their way back to British Imperialism, Monarchy, Empire and colonisation. Along with a sprinkling of rebellions, revolutions and world wars.
Her soul is nurtured and filled by reading (history, psychology, autobiographies and historical fiction), listening to music (from Taylor Swift to classical), watching historical drama (yes an Outlander tragic!), looking at impressionism paintings (thank you Monet and Degas) and drinking freshly brewed tea from fine bone china cup and saucer.
Through her written works she explores the interconnectedness of human, spirit and place. Her first published works ‘heartspeak’ is a collection of prose and was released in 2018. This was followed up by ‘Last Goodbye’ her personal account of losing her brother to suicide.
Her love of travel has seen her explore Central Australia, the Northern Territory, ‘the Kimberley’ region of WA, South Australia, tropical Queensland and she has driven the Nullabor with her family.
In 2015 she took her first solo trip overseas and experienced the historical beauty of Italy.
In 2019, Libby undertook an ancestral pilgrimage to Scotland, immersing herself in this land and the people (that of her ancestors). This facilitated an inner transformation resulting in a deeper sense of connection to self and land; one which is now fuelling her new creative endeavours.
Libby is a passionate advocate for flower essences therapy and was a Registered Bach Flower practitioner and trainer for The Bach Centre (UK) and is an Accredited Practitioner with Australian Bush Flower Essences. Libby facilitated many flower essences courses to students nationally and consulted extensively within this field.
Born in Richmond, Melbourne (land of the Wurundjeri people), Victoria, she currently lives in Perth (land of the Whadjuk Noongar people), Western Australia.
Mum to three great adult kids, Libby is now walking a solo journey yet takes great joy in watching her ‘kids’ walk their own path in life.
